  • Project Description

    The culvert is in unsatisfactory condition. There are defects in the slope and channel protection at the inlet and outlet. The integrity of the plaster layer on the portal and slope walls at the inlet and outlet has been compromised.

    Concrete deterioration, exposed reinforcement and corrosion are observed in the culvert structure.

    The culvert is 10% silted. Joint displacement is present. Part of the culvert is constructed of cast-in-place concrete.

    The longitudinal axis of the culvert has significant displacement. Local irregularities are present on the walls, including concrete breakouts and pits. A stepped channel has been arranged along the bottom of the culvert.

    Partial concrete deterioration and grass growth are observed in the outlet channel.

    Task

    Repair concrete deterioration and exposed, corroded reinforcement; seal joints between sections and apply joint waterproofing.

    Construct a monolithic tray with a slope and install a reinforcement cage.

     

    Solution

    Rehabilitate the existing pipe using the “PipeArm” technology with V-LOCK-type anchoring sheets manufactured by TechPolymer.

    Fill the space between the existing pipe and the anchoring sheet with a high-strength injection compound.

    Technology advantages
    • The use of the “PipeArm” technology enabled the repair of the reinforced concrete pipe without replacing the entire reinforced concrete structure.
    • Minimal reduction in the pipe’s internal diameter.
    • Reinforcement of the reinforced concrete pipe, extending its service life to 50 years or more.
    • The resulting structure has low hydraulic resistance and high protection against the adverse effects of water.
