A bentonite mat is a roll material that provides waterproofing and protects soil from chemicals due to the properties of bentonite clay.
Bentonite mats consist of a needle-punched polypropylene fibre matrix containing granules of activated or natural sodium bentonite. The polypropylene matrix has a woven structure on one side and a nonwoven structure on the other. The layers are joined by needle-punching, ensuring uniform distribution and fixation of the bentonite granules within the matrix.
«Bentotech» is the only waterproofing material in its class that can «self-heal», restoring watertightness even after a through-puncture.
- «Бентотех АС», «Бентотех AC-V» and «Бентотех AWX» — bentonite clay is located between woven and nonwoven geotextiles. The «Бентотех AC-V» and «Бентотех AWX» grades have higher tensile strength values.
- «Бентотех АСЛ» — bentonite clay is located between woven and nonwoven geotextiles bonded to a geomembrane with a thickness of 0.2 to 1.5 mm
We manufacture bentonite mats whose waterproofing properties are identical to those of one-metre-thick clay waterproofing, with a permeability coefficient of no more than 3.0×10-11 m/s and regeneration capacity. We undertake the full scope of work — from designing and manufacturing bentonite mats to installation and commissioning.
- Waterproofing of foundation slabs
- Waterproofing of main and field pipelines
- Waterproofing of walls and roofs of underground structures and tunnels
- Construction of impermeable barriers
- As a protective layer against the penetration of pollutants into soil and groundwater
- As a protective layer in the construction of industrial and municipal waste landfills, oil storage facilities, petrol stations, and reservoirs for various purposes
- As a protective layer in the construction of roads, airports, airfields, spaceports, and ports
- Waterproofing of underground and above-ground pipelines
1. Versatile applications. Bentonite mats are used in the construction of oil and gas fields, pipelines, loading platforms, mining sites, roads, tunnels, bridges, reservoirs and hundreds of other facilities.
2. Savings on waterproofing. In terms of their waterproofing properties, bentonite mats are equivalent to one metre of clay waterproofing, but require lower material and installation costs.
3. Service life — at least 50 years. Bentotech withstands hydrostatic pressure of up to 6 atmospheres, an unlimited number of freeze-thaw, hydration and dehydration cycles, is resistant to damage caused by structural settlement and is suitable for seismically active areas.
4. Environmentally friendly. The material is completely safe, so it can be used in the construction of facilities designed to handle drinking water.
5. Self-regeneration. Bentonite mats restore their properties after minor damage, making them suitable for construction on unprepared substrates.
6. Simple installation. Bentonite mats are installed manually, without the use of construction equipment.
The installation of bentonite mats does not require special subgrade preparation, as the material can restore its properties after minor penetrating damage. “Bentotech” is laid in one direction with an overlap of at least 300 mm. The overlaps between sheets are sprinkled with bentonite granules at a rate of 0.8 kg/linear m.
Bentonite mats are flexible and can be used on uneven surfaces. They can compensate for soil deformation in the event of ground settlement and the formation of small cracks in concrete structures.
When installing “Bentotech ASL”, welding is carried out along the geomembrane layer.
After installation, sufficient loading of the bentonite mats with soil, crushed stone, etc. must be ensured. The minimum loading for a bentonite mat is 250 kg/m.
The operating temperature range for bentonite mats is from minus 60 °C to plus 60 °C.
