A strip drain consists of a flexible polymer core wrapped in a layer of filter material.
Vertical geosynthetic drains are a modern technical solution used in transport and hydraulic engineering, as well as in the environmental protection and oil and gas industries. For example, vertical drainage technology as part of an active degassing system ensures the effective collection of landfill gas during the reclamation of landfill sites, while the installation of vertical drainage in weak foundation strata can significantly reduce the consolidation time of weak water-saturated soils, thereby improving foundation stability (by increasing effective stresses in the soil).
Geodrain installation is carried out using a special equipment set consisting of Stitcher attachment equipment mounted on an excavator:
- The geodrain is driven into the soil through the working platform by forcing in the guide pipe
- The guide pipe is extracted on the return stroke, while the drain remains in the soil and is cut above the working surface
- Guaranteed drainage, even under high soil pressure and deformation
- Effective extraction of biogas from the municipal solid waste landfill body
- Geodrains can be installed at depths of more than 45 m below ground level
- Acceleration of foundation settlement by dozens of times
- Reduced construction time
- High water permeability of the geodrain when installed at depths exceeding 20 metres
- The flexible core of the «ТЕХПОЛИМЕР» drain is made of high-quality polypropylene and surrounded by durable, wear-resistant geotextile
- Infrastructure construction (roads, railway lines and airports)
- Municipal and industrial waste landfills
- Land reclamation projects
