  • Task

The objectives of municipal solid waste landfill reclamation are:

    • Reduction of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere
    • Protection of groundwater from contamination
    • Prevention of landfill leachate formation
    • Effective biogas drainage
    • Prevention of erosion and landslide processes caused by atmospheric precipitation and snowmelt.
    • Landscaping of the reclaimed landfill.
    Solution

A technical solution for protecting waste from atmospheric precipitation is the external waterproofing of the landfill body – creating a sealed cover over the waste.

A geogrid with a protective geotextile layer is installed to reinforce the landfill surface and slopes. «Hydromat 3D» serves as the drainage layer for biogas. Insulating layers of «Bentotech» bentonite mat, grade AC, and geomembrane type 4/2 are then installed. A second drainage layer with «Hydromat» is required to drain rainwater and meltwater from the landfill surface. The technical solutions used for the comprehensive reclamation of the landfill also include greening it with «Biomat». «SD Geogrid» is used to reinforce the landfill road pavement.
