On 2 August, Dmitry Patrushev held a meeting in Sochi on the implementation of the reform of municipal solid waste management. As part of the working trip, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev assessed the scale of work to reconstruct the largest municipal solid waste landfill in Kuban—the Belorechensky landfill. The company specialises in waste collection, transport, sorting and disposal.
Reconstruction of the municipal solid waste disposal facility began in December 2023. The work was planned in two stages. To date, the first stage has been completed in full:
- the waste receiving area has been expanded by 4 ha, extending the period during which waste can be accepted by 2 years and 7 months;
- a high-temperature flare unit with a capacity of 2.5 thousand m3/hour has been installed;
- the capacity of leachate treatment units has been increased to 150 m3/day.
Work continues in the second stage of reconstruction:
- installation of an active degassing system connected to a flare unit for gas utilisation;
- construction of a composting area where technogenic soil will be produced for covering landfill layers.
At the working meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the region to join the activities of the new national project «Environmental Well-Being». By 2030, 100% of the annual municipal solid waste generated must be sorted, with no more than half of it disposed of in landfills, Dmitry Patrushev emphasised.
