At present, active work is underway in Artyom and Dalnerechensk, Primorsky Krai, to reclaim unauthorised landfills.
«This is not simply waste removal. The sites are to be equipped with gas removal systems and water collection tanks, protective layers are to be installed, followed by landscaping. The landfill in Artyom covers almost 22 hectares, while the one in Dalnerechensk covers four hectares», the Ministry of Housing and Utilities of Primorsky Krai clarified.
In Artyom, pits are being prepared for special tanks for subsequent drainage and for the collection and storage of leachate, while geosynthetic materials are being installed in Dalnerechensk.
In accordance with the reclamation projects, materials by "TechPolymer" are being used:
- Absolute waterproofing and protection of the inner surface of the leachate collection tank will be provided by a polymer anchor sheet TU2246-003-56910145-2014.
- Effective extraction of biogas from the landfill body involves installing vertical strip geodrains STO56910145-046-2021. Their flexible core is made of high-quality polypropylene and surrounded by strong, wear-resistant geotextile.
- To protect the landfill body from precipitation ingress, a protective screen will be created from layers of geosynthetics, including geomembranes TU2246-001-56910145-2014, which provide one-hundred-per-cent impermeability.
The reclamation work is scheduled for completion in June 2025. The technical readiness of the sites is currently estimated at approximately 80%.
