The industry journal «Dorozhnaya Derzhava» hosted a remote round-table discussion attended by K.V. Gorkov, Head of the Engineering and Technical Centre of the «TechPolymer» Group. Current industry issues related to the use and development of geosynthetic materials under import substitution were discussed.
Over the past 20 years, the Russian market for geosynthetic materials (GM) has not developed in a consistent and stable manner. It has been affected by many factors and risks: combating counterfeit products, external and domestic competition among manufacturers, differing interpretations in the adoption of common terminology for structures and products, as well as disputes concerning the regulatory framework establishing technical requirements for these materials.
At present, there is a fairly wide range of GMs used in Russian road construction, with consumption volumes and areas of application continuing to grow.
But can we now confidently state that this segment of the road construction sector has reached its full level of development? Manufacturers and suppliers of geosynthetic materials who took part in the remote round table helped clarify the actual situation emerging in the current industry market.
