The project to construct a local wastewater treatment facility for the multifunctional recreational complex «Gelendzhik Marina» is ongoing. At the current stage, welding of the polymer wells has been completed, and installation of the Type 5/2 geomembrane (see photo) has begun. It will form the basis of a sealed reservoir for collecting surface runoff.
Type 5/2 geomembrane: a key element of the waterproofing system
The smooth geomembrane with a protective and drainage coating on both sides serves as a completely sealed «envelope», inside which the «BlokTech» modular reservoir will subsequently be installed. Use of this material makes it possible to:
-
ensure 100% watertightness of the structure;
-
reduce labour requirements and installation time by eliminating additional protective layers;
-
increase the service life of the system through resistance to corrosion, decay and aggressive environments;
-
ensure the environmental safety of the facility, located in the resort area of the Black Sea coast.
The Type 5/2 geomembrane installation process includes:
- layer-by-layer unrolling of the rolls on the prepared base, with the sheets overlapping by at least 100 mm,
- precise joining of the polymer sheets using automatic extrusion welding,
- visual and defect-detection inspection of all seams to ensure continuous tightness of the future waterproofing contour.
Advantages of the Type 5/2 geomembrane in the «Gelendzhik Marina» project
The material is manufactured from virgin raw materials, providing high tensile strength and stable performance characteristics. Its use complies with strict waterproofing requirements for wastewater treatment facilities and makes it possible to create a reliable base for the «BlokTech» reservoir with a capacity of more than 6000 m³.
About the project
The construction of a local wastewater treatment facility using «BlokTech» reservoirs is part of an integrated approach to creating environmentally sustainable engineering infrastructure. The project is aimed at minimising the load on the city’s utility networks and ensuring the environmental safety of the natural environment of Gelendzhik.
Work at the site is continuing. The next stage will be the installation of the «BlokTech» reservoir modules.
