ALROSA conducted waterproofing works on a section of the left side slope of the tailings storage facility of Processing Plant No. 14 of the Aikhal Mining and Processing Division using a "ТехПолимер" geomembrane.
Facility: Tailings storage facility of Processing Plant No. 14 — a Class I hydraulic structure formed by hydraulic filling, intended for storing waste (tailings) from kimberlite ores after diamond extraction and for the recirculating water supply of Processing Plant No. 14. The tailings storage facility was built according to a design by the Yakutsk Research and Design Institute of the Diamond Mining Industry, «Якутнипроалмаз» (Mirny), and commissioned in 1996.
The purpose of the waterproofing works was to eliminate filtration channels through the left side slope of the tailings storage facility, with a waterproofed area of 190 thousand m2.
The supply and installation of the "ТехпПолимер" geomembrane, as well as welding works, were carried out in September–October 2020.
