The major repair of the culvert at the “URALCHEM-TRANS” site has been completed using the “PipeArm” technology developed by the TechPolymer group of companies.
The “PipeArm” technology, specified in GOST R 59200-2021 (Clause 9.11), made it possible to:
- Complete the major repair of the structure within a short timeframe without stopping traffic on the railway tracks.
- Eliminate the need to remove the embankment and railway track and dismantle the existing culvert structure.
- Increase the load-bearing capacity of the structure using a reinforced-concrete casing.
- Ensure the durability of the structure and anti-corrosion protection of the concrete through the properties of the polymer V-LOCK anchoring sheet under TU 2246-003-56910145-2014.
Site features and completed works
The structure consisted of a circular reinforced-concrete culvert with an opening diameter of 1 m and a culvert length of 26.8 m, operating under conditions of periodic water flow (a ditch).
The project included:
- Cleaning and repair of the existing structure.
- Repair of damage to the joints between sections and the protective concrete layer.
- Installation of a reinforcement cage on the walls of the culvert being rehabilitated.
- Installation of a polymer protective liner (4 mm thick) with extrusion-welded seams.
- Encasing the structure in a single unit with high load-bearing capacity, low hydraulic resistance and resistance to adverse environmental effects, while retaining the maximum effective cross-section of the culvert — d=0.85 m.
