Stage 5 of the major repair of the Tomsk–Mariinsk highway at PK 194+78 (km 149+484) is nearing completion. The construction team repaired the circular reinforced concrete culvert using the «PipeArm» technology.
The culvert consists of 19 precast reinforced concrete sections with a diameter of 1.0 m and a length of 1.0 m. The inlet and outlet headwalls are of the flared type. The length of the culvert along the portal walls is 20.0 m.

The following defects were identified during the culvert inspection:
• deterioration of the concrete surfaces of the portal wall and the wing walls of the inlet and outlet headwalls;
• failure of all joints between sections;
• vertical deformation of the sections;
• the slope and channel protection at the headwalls was damaged and overgrown with grass.
Repair of the reinforced concrete culvert using the «PipeArm» technology involves creating a monolithic internal structure inside the culvert and lining it with V-Lock polymer anchor sheet (TU 2246-003-56910145-2014). This type of repair is in demand for pressurised, non-pressurised and stormwater utility sections. When pipelines are restored using the «PipeArm» technology, there is no need to remove and subsequently restore asphalt surfaces of roads and highways, pedestrian pavements or courtyards, as would be the case when replacing pipelines with new ones; all work is performed inside the pipe.

The following works were carried out during the culvert repair:
- sealing and waterproofing the joints between sections;
- rehabilitation of the existing culvert using the «PipeArm» technology with V-Lock polymer anchor sheets manufactured by «TechPolymer»;
- extension of the culvert on the inlet and outlet headwall sides;
- installation of a new section and construction of a flared-type headwall.
The work eliminated all identified defects and extended the culvert (the total length of the culvert after extension is 28.52 m).
Lining the internal surface of the culvert with V-Lock polymer anchor sheet manufactured by "TechPolymer" will:
- extend the service life (more than 50 years);
- reduce abrasive wear;
- provide waterproofing for the reinforced concrete culvert;
- prevent concrete deterioration;
- prevent the culvert from becoming overgrown with suspended solids carried by the flow.
