The Nepeyno landfill in the Moscow Region will be remediated on schedule

20 September 2024

For more than 70 years, substantial volumes of rubbish and various waste were brought to the landfill located near the village of Nepeyno. At the same time, no regulations aimed at protecting the environment from the negative impact of this municipal solid waste landfill were observed. As part of the federal project «Clean Country», which is part of the national project «Ecology», the Nepeyno municipal solid waste landfill is being reclaimed in the district.

The construction of retaining walls has already been completed, and their cladding is continuing. The relocation of landfill waste and the formation and grading of the landfill body are nearing completion. Equipment from a domestic manufacturer, which has already proven its reliability during operation at other landfills, is being installed. This includes pressure collectors, leachate collection and surface runoff drainage systems, and degassing systems. The flare unit, which will burn the landfill gas released from the capped landfill body, has already been installed and has undergone preliminary testing. A protective cover made of Gidroksa—a profiled waterproofing membrane with in-plane drainage functions—is being installed, along with reclamation layers of sand and a drainage 3D hydromat.

In addition, the contractor has completed the installation of a rapidly assembled tank made of «BlokTekh» modules, which will be used as a storage tank within the treatment facilities, with a working tank volume of 95%. The design of the «BlokTekh» modular elements allows video monitoring of the tank and hydrodynamic cleaning of its internal surfaces.

Several dozen workers and units of heavy machinery are currently working at the site. Thanks to the contractor’s prompt progress, the site is more than 60% complete. The contractor must hand over the site by 15 November.
