In October 2023, construction of a drainage ditch on Sakhalin was completed using concrete canvas. The use of concrete canvas «TechPolymer» on Sakhalin is an optimal solution for reinforcing drainage trenches in the region’s challenging climatic conditions.
Applications:
- construction of trenches, channels and drainage systems;
- reinforcement and protection of structures against erosion and corrosion;
- creation of landslide protection systems;
- use in landscape design and site improvement.
At the construction site, the material made it possible to create concrete structures without using mixing equipment; the flexibility of the canvas allowed steep bends to be formed in the trench. The work was carried out in several stages.
First, the workers prepared the surface on which the concrete canvas would be installed. They cleared it of debris, dirt and vegetation. The concrete canvas was then installed. The workers carefully unrolled the roll and laid it with overlaps on the surface of the ditch in the direction of water flow, following the markings.
Once the canvas had been laid, it was secured in place using special anchors. After installation was completed, the surface of the concrete canvas was wetted with water.
Thus, the use of concrete canvas enabled the builders to create a reliable and durable drainage channel structure that will resist corrosion, wear and other adverse effects in the region’s challenging climatic conditions. The use of concrete canvas on Sakhalin reduced installation costs and, in the long term, maintenance and repair costs.
