Reclamation of Moscow Region MSW Landfills Today Reclamation of all landfills in the Moscow Region is carried out as part of the federal project «Clean Country», which aims to eliminate waste dumps and sites of accumulated environmental damage. Reclamation is carried out in three main areas: removing landfill gases from the air, preventing leachate from entering water bodies, and returning the land to economic use.
None of these areas can be addressed without high-quality geosynthetic materials, which perform a key function in the reclamation of MSW landfills. TechPolymer has extensive experience in addressing landfill reclamation challenges using advanced geosynthetic materials manufactured in-house. This approach makes it possible to cap the waste disposal site and reduce the landfill’s impact on the natural environment to practically zero.
The extensive list of Moscow Region reclamation sites supplied with materials by the TechPolymer Group includes the Kulakovsky, Salaryevo, Sliznevo, Iksha and Kuchino landfills. The reclamation project for each landfill is unique due to differences in area, height, terrain and the geological features of its location. For example, at the Sliznevo landfill, it was necessary to build a reinforced-soil retaining wall because the landfill height is disproportionate to its area and it has steep slopes.
You can review the scope of completed work by watching our video:
- The Kulakovsky landfill is scheduled for commissioning in June 2020; material installation work is 85% complete
- The Sliznevo landfill is scheduled for commissioning in May 2021; the reinforced-soil retaining wall is 20% complete, and the overall work is 30% complete
- Work at the Kuchino landfill is 80% complete
- Work at the Salaryevo landfill is 40% complete
- Work at the Iksha landfill has been fully completed
