The technical stage of the reclamation of the Taldomsky MSW landfill in the Moscow Region is already more than 97% complete. The elimination of accumulated environmental damage is being carried out under the national project “Ecology” and the state programme “Ecology and Environmental Protection in the Moscow Region”.
After the landfill in Taldomsky Urban District was closed in 2015, survey work, preparation of design documentation and obtaining a positive conclusion from the State Environmental Impact Assessment began. Reclamation of the waste landfill has been carried out since 2022.
From a statement by Tikhon Firsov, Minister of Ecology and Environmental Management of the Moscow Region: “At the site of accumulated environmental damage, work has been completed to form the landfill body, construct the reinforced soil wall, install the degassing system, leachate collection and drainage systems, and the impermeable curtain. The contractor demonstrated good results over the week in carrying out work at the landfill; I have no doubt that the reclamation will be completed within the established timeframe.”
The main, technical stage of reclamation is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
