Landfill reclamation in Tver is 90% complete

20 November 2023

The rehabilitation of the municipal solid waste landfill in the Tver Region, located at the 13th km of Bezhetskoye Highway, is already 90% complete under the federal project “Volga Improvement” of the national project “Environment”.

To date, all necessary work has been completed, and the installation of protective screens is nearing completion, including the installation of waterproofing layers made of geomembrane and bentonite mats.

Workers are also covering the landfill body with an erosion-control geosynthetic material, Geomat 3D, which is used to create a stable vegetation cover on the slopes of embankments, retaining walls and other structures. Leachate and wastewater are being collected and treated. In addition, specialists are installing a main line made of polyethylene pipes manufactured by “TechPolymer” for the transportation of landfill gas.

The Tver Region is actively working to fulfil the objectives set out in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Executive Order on achieving national development goals through 2030, including environmental objectives. This landfill on Bezhetskoye Highway is the third site in the region to undergo rehabilitation under the national project “Environment”.
