The “Chastsy” landfill in the Odintsovsky urban district of the Moscow Region has been operating since 1974; in 2014, the landfill was closed to waste disposal. Reclamation of the “Chastsy” municipal solid waste landfill began at the end of 2020. The total area of the landfill is 17.2 ha; over its entire operating period, more than 3 million cubic metres of waste accumulated here.
Reclamation of the “Chastsy” municipal solid waste landfill is aimed at eliminating accumulated environmental damage, including preventing landfill gas emissions and treating the generated leachate.
Work is currently under way at the municipal solid waste landfill to form a new landfill body, install the landfill protective cover and a reinforced-soil retaining wall, and install the degassing system and the surface runoff drainage system.
Reclamation of the “Chastsy” municipal solid waste landfill will be completed at the end of 2022.
