In Kaliningrad, stabilisation of the approach roads has been completed as part of the reconstruction of the drawbridge over the Pregolya River on the Kaliningrad–Sovetsk section. The weak water-saturated soils on the transport approaches to the site were strengthened using vertical drainage technology, the key element of which is TechPolymer geodrains («ТехПолимер») (СТО 56910145-046-2021).
Scope of work
-
18 236 strip geodrain installations.
-
Total drainage depth - 319 130 linear m.
Vertical drainage technology accelerates the consolidation of weak soils, ensuring the stability of the road embankment without the need to wait for natural settlement of the foundation. A Stitcher attachment set mounted on an excavator was used to install the geodrains, ensuring high installation accuracy and speed.
Benefits of the solution
-
Foundation stability. Vertical geodrains effectively remove excess moisture, preventing deformation of the road surface.
-
Reduced construction time. Accelerated soil consolidation allows work to proceed without technological delays.
-
Durability. The strengthened foundation retains its load-bearing capacity for decades, reducing operating costs.
Any construction near water bodies always involves environmental risks. Vertical drainage technology is environmentally safe. TechPolymer geodrains («ТехПолимер») are manufactured from high-quality polymers resistant to aggressive environments and function as natural drainage, removing water without harming the ecosystem of the Pregolya River. This is another example of how modern TechPolymer geosynthetic technologies («ТехПолимер») help build reliable infrastructure that is safe for the environment.
