Construction of leachate collection tanks at the Valtsovo municipal solid waste landfill

Work is continuing on the remediation of the Valtsovo municipal solid waste landfill in Stupino, Moscow Region. The facility was closed 6 years ago, and more than 800,000 tonnes of waste accumulated during its operation. In accordance with the project, the area to be remediated is 12.2 ha.

The landfill body has now been fully formed, and a protective screen made of geosynthetic materials is being installed. Work is underway to construct a leachate collection reservoir, as well as roads on the site. Under the contract, the technical stage of remediation must be completed by 30 November 2021. The biological stage will then begin and will be completed in 2025.
