The apron reconstruction was planned with due consideration of a range of factors and requirements:

Apron dimensions and configuration.

Apron evenness and slope (they must comply with regulatory requirements to ensure safe aircraft taxiing).

Bearing capacity of the subgrade soil, groundwater level and other characteristics (this helped to select optimal construction materials, provide waterproofing for the apron base to prevent water from penetrating the soil and causing deformation, and develop a drainage system to remove excess moisture).
The choice of materials depended on both projected loads and climatic conditions. To stabilise the base, it was decided to combine layers of traditional inert materials, such as crushed stone, with geosynthetics - «Stabigrunt» (a woven geofabric for reinforcing soil and bases), «Armoset-P» (a road geogrid impregnated with PVC plastisol, designed to increase the bearing capacity of a weak or waterlogged base) and the erosion-control mat «Geosklon». As a result, this mechanically stabilised base will function like a rigid slab capable of withstanding both compressive and tensile loads.
Krasnoyarsk Airport Director General Evgeny Vladimirov noted that implementing the planned measures would improve the airport's operational efficiency and the quality of passenger services.
