22 March is World Water Resources Day. In 2025, more than 815 million roubles will be allocated for the clearing and restoration of Russia’s water bodies.
Geotube technology is one of the methods used to clear and restore water body ecosystems. This method is relatively simple to implement technically.
Examples of the method in practice:
- Clearing of the Varshavskiye Ponds in Moscow (video).
- Use of geotubes to clear bottom sediments from the Pekhorka River in the Moscow Region.
- Rehabilitation of the ecosystem of Lake Zavyalovo in Altai Krai.
Large-scale works under the federal project «Water of Russia» and the national project «Environmental Well-Being» will be carried out at the Kurgan Reservoir and on the Don, Khopyor and Syzranka rivers, as well as other water bodies across the country.
This is an important step towards restoring Russia’s aquatic ecosystems!
