Work at the sludge beds in Kazan continues in all weather conditions. To date, more than 66% of the planned work has already been completed.
A new batch of geosynthetics manufactured by «TechPolymer» has been delivered to the site. The geosynthetic materials provide a reliable sealed liner system for the geotubing site. The liner consists of layers of impermeable geomembrane, reinforcing RD geogrid and geocomposite mat Hydromat 3D.
The results of the work are clear. This advanced experience in reclaiming sludge beds has become a model, and similar projects are now on the agenda for most cities in Russia. For example, during his address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin focused in detail on the protection of water resources, stating that thousands of kilometres of waterways and their banks had been cleaned over the past five years, while pollution of the Volga had almost halved.
Let us remind you that since 2021 Tatarstan has been implementing a pilot programme to reclaim the area containing Kazan’s sludge ponds as part of the “Volga Recovery” project. The work is scheduled to be completed in full by 2025.
