Stabilization of the approach road subgrade for the Russia–DPRK bridge is nearing completion using “ТехПолимер” geodrains ~500 000 linear m of geodrains
Technology and scale of the work
Specialized equipment installed the geodrains to a depth of 28 metres in weak, water-saturated soils. The project used a “ТехПолимер” geodrain with a flexible polypropylene core surrounded by a wear-resistant geotextile filter. The strip drain design provides reliable water drainage even under high soil pressure and enables installation at depths of more than 45 metres.
Installation method
The drain is installed in the soil using a steel mandrel by static pressing to the required elevations. After the drain is secured in the soil with an anchoring device, the mandrel is extracted, forming a reliable drainage element.
This solution helps reduce the consolidation time of the subgrade from several years to six months or less and ensures the required bearing capacity for the road embankment. Completion of this stage paves the way for the next phases of construction of the approach roads.
Project significance
Participation in a project of federal importance confirms the effectiveness of “ТехПолимер” materials for critical infrastructure facilities. Our solutions ensure structural reliability in complex engineering and geological conditions and compliance with project timelines.
