Modern road construction uses advanced technologies, materials and equipment, requiring road-sector professionals to continuously develop their professional competencies. One important area of this work is the training of qualified personnel to work with innovative materials, such as geocomposites and geosynthetics, whose use in the road sector is constantly growing.

This task can be addressed by organising professional development programmes for potential users that combine theoretical training with practical classes. A practical example of this approach is the cooperation between TechPolymer Group, Russia’s largest manufacturer of geosynthetic materials, the Siberian State University of Automobile and Highway Engineering (SibADI), and Avtodor Group. In 2020, together with the Infrastructure and Educational Programs Foundation , they launched a project to develop a professional development programme for road-sector employees, training them in the effective use of composite geosynthetic materials in road structures.
